MY REVIEW ABOUT EACH BUILDING I VISITED
YE OLD TRIP TO JERUSALEM
It was built in the1100s. It got its name from when the crusaders of Richard the Lion heart were passing through stopped at it. in the middle ages a 'trip' meant a resting place. So it was resting place to them on their way to Jerusalem.
This is the oldest inn in England presently and it was carved out of rock in the year 1068. When in it, you have a sense of admiration of the ability of man to preserve a site for so many years. How original it looked was amazing and how all its elements were preserved. It created an environment that allows one to put ones self in the space and think of the lifestyle of the people during the 1100s.
THE ST. BARNABAS CATHEDRAL NOTTINGHAM
it was designed by Augustus Weebly Northmore and was majorly funded by Lord Pugin. It was built in the times where restoration of the church in England was important it was built between 1841 and 1844 in a plain gothic style. The immateriality of architecture was expressed here efficiently.
Here you feel a sense of solemnity. Before entering the church it feels like something that shouldn't be ruffled by ones presence. It was so quiet could here a pin drop could be heard in the church. When visited on a rainy day the effect of the solemnity is seen even more. The building gave a feel that made it specifically for worship. The attention to detail in the church was amazing and every thing in it fit right into the environment. All the building materials looked very expensive and right for a worship place.
THE PARK TUNNEL NOTTINGHAM
it began from the proposals made by Peter Frederick Robinson for areas development in 1827. T. C. Hine was the architect who was to complete the project. It was built to allow horse drawn passages to the park estate, which was for the wealthy members of Nottingham to derby road. It was found inconvenient and never fulfilled it purpose. it is very picturesque and rich in greenery. When in it one can imagine how the horse drawn carriages were to pass through it. It feels like it could collapse because of the loose grains of sand that run down when it is touched. It is scary to go into it alone because it is hidden and you just feel like getting out as quick as possible.
THE NOTTINGHAM MAGISTRATES COURT
Prior to the construction of the Nottingham magistrate court, the magistrates were housed in 2 buildings. It was designed by the Nottingham County Council Architect's department with William Saunders Partnership and Cullen, carter and hill and built 1992 with a postmodern entrance. I could not go into the building but some things could be observed from outside. A sense of fear is experienced because of the seriousness of the environment like one is trying to encroach into a scary area. It also feels like you are being watched.
