THE E-TEST
The e-test is 25% of our total score in architecture in context
The E-test is used to evaluate our knowledge of the subject explained during the lectures. these means our knowledge will be evaluated arcading to our understanding of the different periods of architecture, the debates we have or theories. we will also be assessed on our ability to recognise the images used in teaching during the lectures. Finally, we will be tested on our development of the research blog which we should all have.
another important purpose of the e-test is to assess our knowledge on the relationship between the historic and the contemporary architecture. the e-test will also take place in a controlled environment.
THE ESSAY'S BRIEF
the patchwork is a way of assessing us that consists of small work sections called patches. in this module it involves us working in groups of twos. A list of topics have been given to us to use in this 'comparism and contrasting' work. In this year each student is required to submit 3 patches the student will chose 2 buildings builds in different times but have same context. Along with the hard copies we must also present a presentation and a digital copy of each of the patch work to NOW. the patchwork is aimed at improving our knowledge of architecture, improving our research skills and expanding our ability to think.
Our researched question should be rooted around this quote:
"The relationship between the object and the intervening spaces is not formal: it i always rooted in the context of a particular setting" Dalibor Vesely (in Brooker and stone, 2007, p.56) because the assessment is based on it.
This means that buildings are not just created to be whatever the architect has in mind, the buildings around the site and the surroundings plays a huge role and have a huge effect on the architects developments.
THE ASSESSMENT BRIEF BLOG
We are all required to make a blog for our study all the tasks will be related to issues discussed during lectures or seminars.we are encouraged to do all tasks weekly even though, the final submission will be in may.it should include drawings, pictures, models and another specified research. after every feedback received relating to our course work we are required to include a reflection on it. The first submission will be on the 18th of october 2013 and the second 16th may 2014. it is highly important that we submit every one of the homework so will not be capped a lower third.
It is advised that library books and library resources should be used in other to ensure the information is credible. News paper articles and other architects articles are usually useful. In blogging referencing is an important factor.
