W HAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT UNWINS ASSERTION:
“Some argue that if geometry is the language by which God designed the universe, it should also be the language by which architect design their buildings”?
God and geometry have always been interconnected in architecture. The ancient architecture have always been related to the god and their geometry. For instance, the greek temples are arranged in a way that relates it to the gods. Before the greeks, The eyptians built their pyramids in a ways that related it to the size and structure go gods.
IN same vain, it is perceived that God used the same geometry in creating the universe should be applied in architecture. This is why in ancient architecture it was used.

2.UNWIN ALSO EXPLAINS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHY ARCHITECTS, DESIGNERS AND CLIENTS USE IDEAL GEOMETRY:
“It speaks of a ‘higher’, more perfect level of interaction with the world, where the will triumphs over the untidiness and tribulations of mundane reality”.
a)
Order in architecture is very important. I agree with urban planning. Urban planning helps development and control the environment. It helps to prevent overcrowding especially in cities. It also helps to group all building in a closed ranged area, instead of them to be scattered.
In the 1792 enclosure act there was extinction of the common tight that people help over farm land and commons of the parish. Scattered holdings were abolished in open fields.

b)For ideal geometry to affect ones life, it has to be strict and extreme and make sure that is the only to make use of the building or space., this topic relates very well to ergonomics. If a door is designed at 1.3 meter, it means that normal adults cannot pass throughout it, This forces you to lock for an alternative route. In our world we have to allow space for some fluidity, so sometimes designs are not that rigid. making a walk way and a grass patch does not necessarily make people want to walk on the walkway.
c)
Looking at precedents it is important for a city to follow ideal geometry. Pattern helps people make a good use of a space and conserve land. You have to effectively consider the means of transportation, their rout, the type of building you want to occupy a particular space. I think in doing this ideal geometry is important so that the environment does not look scattered and uncoordinated.

UNWIN GOES ON TO SAY, “Ideal geometry manifests human discipline and aspiration to achieve a perfection in form not found in nature”.
a. How can you relate this idea to contemporary styles such as Deconstructivism (Zaha Hadid or Frank Gehry’s designs)?
b. How about your own approach to architecture? Do you prefer organic or geometrical structures? Why?
a)
Contemporary architecture does not follow any form in nature and it strives to be abstract and out of the ordinary. It can be seen from the works of frank Gehry and zaha Hadid that their work is very abstract yet they still strive towards perfection. Deconstructivism looks may appear to not have a particular order but still, It has to be affected by the human ergonomics and the building functions. Deconsructive architecture instead follow the theory of construction and not the natural law of it being related geometrically with its environment.
b)
In architecture sometimes having building that are organic in nature may be the best option because of how it is co-ordinated. On the other a deconstructive building in the midst of organic architecture gives a perfect contrast yet, It still fits into the environment.
Personally, I will say i prefer the geometrically organised structures because they follow a good layout and have good aesthetics. The form of a building will always be influenced by its context.
